Over the years Elmer have mainly been active as a solo guitarplayer in heavy bands. In his solo project Elmer takes the role of composer/producer and seeks for more peacefull music. Mixing influences and inviting music friends with different backgrounds to tell his stories. In addition, Elmer tried to capture an authentic sound and atmosphere for his recordings sessions of both 'a musical triptych' and 'Embodiment', by recording live in a chapel from the 13th century. The first result was released during April 2018: 'A musical Triptych' including turkish wood instruments and a vocal canon performed by Elmer. As an extension Elmer released several new compositions during 2019. On February 1st, 2020 three final pieces were recorded to accompany the full album which is released on March 28th, 2020.
On October 31, Elmer will add a new EP entitled 'Unum diem durantia' to his solo repertoire. The EP, consisting of 3 tracks, was recorded live in Studio Bonk (Dordrecht) together with saxophonist Eduardo Doreste Velázques.

Elmer about 'Embodiment'
The ones who know me might wonder why I didn't make a guitar album. It is true. I do play the guitar for twenty years at this moment of writing. However, what you see here is the embodiment of the sounds I hear since early childhood. When in 1998, at the age of six, a rather old-fashioned woman opened the doors to the beautiful sounds that live in the world of music. To miss Poppel, my first music teacher. |
